The Urban Weaver Project culminated in an fabulous open house celebration on Sept 6, in Maclean Park.
Over the course of 2 years, lead artists Sharon Kallis and Todd DeVries have shared, taught and developed opportunities for community members of all stripes to try their hands at weaving from green waste harvested from Stanley Park. This project, originally sponsored by the City of Vancouver Park Board and Stanley Park Environmental Stewardship program brought together Science and Art by 'up-purposing' green waste through ongoing weaving circles in this studio residency. While this first phase is coming to a conclusion- the good news is that this innovative and inspired project will continue. Thanks to the City of Vancouver, Park Board Field House Residencies the urban weaver will maintain it's presence in the fieldhouse through to January 2015.
